Thanks for the outpouring of support from so many emails back to me after the last newsletter. I felt recognized, inspired and it really was just great 🙂

The future schedule for the twice-monthly visits in Ashland is on the opening page of my webpage (www.centerforchinesemedicine.com).

A friend reading my last newsletter wrote saying I should mention that I am keeping my home in Ashland – as that would add to the stability factor of my returns to Ashland. And that’s true – I am – I really love my neighborhood and can’t envision not living there again at some point. Also I’m already looking forward to these trips down South (smoke not-withstanding) each time. In September the city train opens up down the block from where I live so it will be easy to take it to the airport if I want to feel like a free-wheeling executive in my travels down to Ashland.  It does feel very doable and in sync to be in both places.

A little networking now.  A few friends and clients over the last few months have pointed the way to practitioners, friends and family, teaching possibilities, and generally connections in Portland that were great- but I didn’t write them all down. And those that I did may have entered what is commonly known in the Western world as “the twilight zone” (there are probably more than a few terms for that in the Asian world).  Anyway, if any of you would like to ’hit’ me again with any connections up there that seem relevant – that would be very appreciated.

I also want to network about finding the right practitioner to use the rooms when I am not in Ashland.  Jody Herriott, L.Ac. is continuing to practice in her rooms at the clinic – so that leaves 2 rooms that are not in use when I’m not there, and potentially the use of the front office/apothecary area.  Finding just the right acupuncturist or massage therapist, or naturopath, would seem a good step at this point. If you, or someone you know, might be a good candidate – please let me know.

The terrain and feel of being here is very different than Ashland, though the people themselves are very similar in outlook and demographic (except more people in their 30s here in the SE).  I feel like a speed demon with my e-bike that was so helpful for the hills of Ashland – I’m not sure if it is hip or not hip yet. Sure is fun though to get quickly up to the top of Mt. Tabor or to Sellwood along the river’s edge. There are quite a few acupuncturists around here – often I’ve introduced myself. A lot of them are very young and new at it – and seem to be working under the guise of a naturopath or large clinic.  What is cool is that there is much more institutional interplay between L.Ac/NDs and major medical groups, and research and all – going on. Really makes Southern Oregon look like a backwater in that department

By mid September my kids will be well into High School, and I’m feeling I will have an office address here that can be passed on for those who have friends or family that would like to see me in Portland. Of course I’ll update my webpage about that, etc. In the meantime I’m looking forward to seeing my clients and friends tomorrow and hoping the smoke will calmed.  Happy August!
